## Current Behavior
<!-- This is the behavior we have today -->
The logic for finding the correct targets and web addresses to use when
setting up e2e projects is flawed and missing some key considerations.

## Expected Behavior
<!-- This is the behavior we should expect with the changes in this PR
-->
The logic is accurate and usage is simplified across plugins

fix(webpack): add migration for proxy config (#27621)
Webpack-dev-server v5 changed the proxy config to only accept arrays.
This PR adds a migration for JSON proxy config files to automatically do
the conversion for users. If it's not a JSON format, then we log a
warning and point them to the v5 migration page.

feat(js): generate package.json with overrides and resolutions (#27601)
This PR ensures that `overrides` and `resolutions` are in the generated
package.json file as well. If they are missing, then using
`--frozen-lockfile` will fail due to mismatched overrides in the
lockfile.

Also adds a `skipOverrides` flag to the affected executors and plugins
-- same as `skipPackageManger` that was added previously.

Affected executors/plugins:
- `@nx/vite:build`
- `@nx/webpack:webpack`
- `@nx/remix:build`
- `@nx/next:build`
- `NxAppWebpackPlugin`

feat(js): add skipPackageManager option to build executors in order to skip generating "packageManager" entry in package.json (#27518)
This PR adds `skipPackageManager` option to several build executors in
order to disable generating the `packageManager` field in the resulting
`package.json` file. This field may be problematic on different
platforms so we want a way to work around it.

Affected executors:
- `@nx/webpack:webpack`
- `@nx/vite:build`
- `@nx/next:build`
- `@nx/remix:build`

feat(module-federation): Update SSR enabling static serving for remotes (#27345)
<!-- Please make sure you have read the submission guidelines before

## Current Behavior
<!-- This is the behavior we have today -->

Currently, the default for remotes is to server them as development.
Which means a separate node process for each remote that is inside the
workspace.

This does not scale well and can lead to out of memory exceptions.

## Expected Behavior
<!-- This is the behavior we should expect with the changes in this PR
-->

Remotes will start as static by default, which allows for better scaling
as the remotes increase.

## Current Behavior
<!-- This is the behavior we have today -->
Currently, `playwright` uses the `vite serve` command when setting up
the web server to run the e2e tests against.

The `vite preview` command/target should also depend on `vite build`.

## Expected Behavior
<!-- This is the behavior we should expect with the changes in this PR
-->
`playwright` should use the `vite preview` command when setting up the
web server

`vite preview` targets add a `dependsOn["build"]`

Ensure `serve-static` has a dependsOn: ['build']

Cypress should use the `ciBaseUrl` if it exists when running the
`e2e-ci` targets

Migrations for Playwright and Cypress to use serve-static and preview
correctly

fix(webpack): include hash in asset filenames so they do not conflict (#27159)
Our assets are generated as flat assets in dist, which allows using
assets from workspace libs. This prevents users from having different
assets with the same filename (e.g. `foo/image.png` and
`bar/image.png`). This will error out in the dev server with conflicting
filenames.

We cannot use `[path][name]` because of assets that are outside of the
app folder (e.g. `../../libs/ui/src/assets/image.png`). Thus the best
option is to include hash.

Note: Also re-enabled the e2e tests for `react.test.ts` file since it is
now using Playwright instead of Cypress.

## Current Behavior
Assets with the same filename will error in dev-mode.

## Expected Behavior
Assets with the same filename works.

feat(module-federation): use proxy servers to proxy to single file server for static remotes (#26782)
<!-- Please make sure you have read the submission guidelines before

and generate it for you if appropriate. -->

## Current Behavior
<!-- This is the behavior we have today -->
Remotes that are served for a host are usually served from a single file
server running on a single port.
We perform some mapping logic during the build of the host application
to update the locations the remotes can be found at to point to the
single file server.

This works, but it's also wrong, as it breaks the flow that users
expect.
It also breaks dynamic remotes.

## Expected Behavior
<!-- This is the behavior we should expect with the changes in this PR
-->
Continue to serve the remotes from a single file server, as this helps
reduce the amount of resources used on developers machines.
Use express to create proxy servers that will proxy requests from the
original remote location to the single file server.

This allows applications to continue to work without us having to
interfere and map any remote locations.
It also solves the issue with dynamic remotes.

## Current Behavior
<!-- This is the behavior we have today -->
A common occurrence when working with NX Module Federation is that a

Any changes to the shared lib are therefore not reflected in the dev
server.

## Expected Behavior
<!-- This is the behavior we should expect with the changes in this PR
-->
Add the `nx-runtime-library-control-plugin` to ensure that shared
libraries are shared from a remote that is served via
webpack-dev-server.

feat(core): support compile to wasi target (#22870)
This pull request is trying to add wasm32-wasi target support for the

To test the build, you can run the following commands:

- `rustup target add wasm32-wasip1-threads`
- `pnpm exec napi build --release --platform --package-json-path
packages/nx/package.json --manifest-path packages/nx/Cargo.toml --js
./native-bindings.js -o packages/nx/src/native --target
wasm32-wasip1-threads`

And the wasm file will be built at
packages/nx/src/native/nx.wasm32-wasi.wasm

Blocked by:

- Support @napi-rs/cli 3.0  Cammisuli/monodon#48
- https://github.com/napi-rs/napi-rs/issues/2009

The pseudo_terminal mod is excluded on the wasm32 targets, which is as
expected.

The watch mod is excluded because of the upstream `watchexec` deps
introduced by ignore-files don't support the wasi target at this moment
(but we can improve it).

feat(core): add --help content to project details view (#26629)
This PR adds help text for each inferred target that provides
`metadata.help.command`. To pass options/args to the target, users are
directed to open `project.json` and copy the values from `--help` output
into `options` property of the target.

To display the options help section, the inferred target must provide
metadata as follows:

```json5
 metadata: {
      help: {
        command: `foo --help`
        example: {
          options: {
            bar: true
          },
        },
      },
    },
```

The `help.command` value will be used to retrieve help text for the
underlying CLI (e.g. `jest --help`). The `help.example` property
contains sample options and args that users can add to their
`project.json` file -- currently rendered in the hover tooltip of
`project.json` hint text.

feat(webpack): add convertConfigToWebpackPlugin (#26516)
This PR introduces functionality for users who currently use the
`withNx` and `withReact` plugins in their webpack configuration to
migrate to the `NxAppWebpackPlugin`.

The `nxUseLegacyPlugin` wraps the legacy style function so that it
continues to work with the standardized generated webpack config.

By implementing this change, the aim is to provide a consistent method
for users opting to transition to inferred targets. This ensures a
smoother migration process, offering better integration and reducing
potential configuration complexities.

feat(webpack): Support incremental builds via buildLibsFromSource (#25060)
This PR adds the ability for incremental builds when using the Webpack
Plugin.

Instead of using the source library directly, you can now utilize the
output folder by utilizing the `buildLibsFromSource` option within your
webpack.config file, through `NxAppWebpackPlugin`. This means that
instead of accessing `mylib/src/index.ts`, it will access
`dist/mylib/index.js`.

This directly aligns with incremental builds as it ensures that the
build process only recompiles the source doe that has been modified
since the last build.

fix(webpack): apply-base-config should initialize options it will set #23296 (#23368)
<!-- Please make sure you have read the submission guidelines before

<!--
https://github.com/nrwl/nx/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md#-submitting-a-pr
-->

<!-- Please make sure that your commit message follows our format -->
<!-- Example: `fix(nx): must begin with lowercase` -->

## Current Behavior
<!-- This is the behavior we have today -->
The `@nx/webpack/plugin` will resolve and read webpack options from user
defined config files.
However, it does not set the env vars indicating that a task is being
run, because tasks are not being run at this stage.

This means that certain config properties are not being set by
`applyBaseConfig`.

Users' webpack configs may rely on these properties being set so they
can modify them.
When not set, this throws, meaning the graph cannot be constructed.

## Expected Behavior
<!-- This is the behavior we should expect with the changes in this PR
-->
Initialize the properties that we usually set when `applyBaseConfig` is
used.

fix(webpack): don't overwrite output config (#22116)
## Current Behavior

Some webpack output options, like `filename` are overwritten when using
the `NxWebpackPlugin`, e.g.

```ts
module.exports = {
  output: {
    path: join(__dirname, '../../dist/apps/my-app'),
    // this has no affect:
    filename: ({ runtime }) =>
      migrationEntryPoints.some(({ entryName }) => entryName === runtime)
        ? 'migrations/[name].js'
        : '[name].js',
  },
  plugins: [
    new NxWebpackPlugin({ ... }),
  ]
};
```

## Expected Behavior

The `NxWebpackPlugin` should preserve base config where it makes sense.

I think this is the intended behaviour, but required some extra
parentheses to behave correctly.

fix(webpack): fix default compiler option (#22762)
Given a configuration without `options.tsConfig` the `babel` compiler

## Current Behavior

In my case, the root `package.json` generates a dependency in the tree

`shareWorkspaceLibraries` needs to order the nested projects first for
webpack to resolve the import path aliases correctly.

## Expected Behavior
<!-- This is the behavior we should expect with the changes in this PR
-->
Ensure nested projects are ordered first when reading tsconfig path
aliases

feat(misc): v19 cleanup for Nx plugins (#23104)
This PR removes deprecated code that's been slated for removal in Nx 19
- mentioned as `TODO(v19)` comments.

## Breaking Changes

- **CNW:** `create-nx-workspace` no longer support `--preset=empty` and
`--preset=core`, use `--preset=apps` and `--preset=npm` respectively.
Deprecated in Nx 15.9.
- **Next.js:** `NX_` environment variables are no longer bundled into
Next.js apps, use `NEXT_PUBLIC` instead. Deprecated in Nx 16.8.
- **Webpack, Storybook, Esbuild:** `NX_` environment variables are no
longer bundled into browser bundles, use `NX_PUBLIC` instead. This
removes the possibility of intentional bundling of `NX_` variables.
Deprecated in Nx 18.
- **Cypress:** `cypressComponentConfiguration` generator removed from
`@nx/cypress`, use `configurationGenerator`instead. Deprecated in Nx
16.8.
- **Cypress:** `cypressProjectGenerator` generator removed from
`@nx/cypress`, use `configurationGenerator` instead. Deprecated in Nx
15.9.
- **Expo:** `withNxWebpack` removed from `@nx/expo`, use [metro
bundler](https://docs.expo.dev/guides/customizing-metro/)
(https://docs.expo.dev/guides/customizing-metro/) in app.json instead.
There is a migration to handle this in Nx 19. Deprecated in Nx 15.8.

## Deferred to v20

- **JS:** `classProperties.loose` option removed from `@nx/js/babel`
preset, use `loose` instead. Deprecated in Nx 17.0.
- **ESLint:** Low priority task to "deviations from
@typescript-eslint/recommended" for our lint rules. @JamesHenry will
look at this later before Nx 20, but it is unimportant.
- **React:** component testing does not work with Project Crystal, and
we need the executor + built-in webpack configs to run CT. Will do a
follow-up on this after Nx 19 release. Related issue:
https://github.com/nrwl/nx/issues/21546
- **Next.js:** `withStylus` removal from `@nx/next`, use SASS instead.
It hasn't worked, but we kept the file to throw an error when used.
Deprecated in Nx 17.0.
- **Next.js**: `@nx/next:component` and `@nx/next:page` generators to
not derive the `components` and `app`/`pages` directory. Use `nx g
@nx/next:component apps/myapp/components/button` instead. Deprecated in
Nx 17.0.
- **Webpack:** `isolatedConfig` option removal from
`@nx/webpack:webpack` executor. There is a migration to handle this in
Nx 19. Deprecated in in Nx 17.2.
- **Angular:** `executeWebpackDevServerBuilder` removal from
`@nx/angular/executors`, use `executeDevServerBuilder` instead.
Deprecated in Nx 17.0.
